General Raid Looting Policies
Zero-sum DKP Implemented July 29, 2008. For history and discussion of the DKP system, see New Loot Policy
Zero-Sum Dragon Kill Points (DKP) is a system where each individual player will gain points as loot is received by others during a run, who will need to spend points to get the item. The system uses fixed prices for each item (which is explained in detail below). The person who wins the item is the one who needs (or wants if no one needs) the item with the highest DKP. When people spend DKP, those points are distributed among everyone who was available to be in the raid (signed up and was on time). The DKP price for an item is pre-determined for need and they are offered at half-price for use, if no one is willing to take it on need.
- All new players start with zero DKP.
- Points are earned and spent on a player basis not a character basis. There is no negative limit.
- Items taken on Need cost full points. Items taken on Use cost half-points.
- DKP will be tracked to two (2) decimal places.
- DKP points are only gained when someone wins an item.
- Items not taken on Need or Use rolls will be greeded using random roll at no cost.
- Ties of DKP points between players will be settled by random roll.
- PVP Items (i.e., items with resilience - two drop in Vault per run) are NOT DKP'd but random roll is utilized with Need/Use/Greed
Who is eligible to get DKP points?
People in the raid are eligible for DKP as items drop as they are present.
In addition, certain people who aren't in the raid MAY be eligible for points IF the raid was full and they meet the following requirements (called raid-eligible individuals):
1. Signed up in advance using in-game calendar system
2. On time (15 min is acceptable with RL reason)
3. If it is a single instance night they must stay available through the killing of the first boss.
4. In a multi-part night. They must stay through the first attempt and the first boss in the second instance (e.g., OS then Vault)
5. The player must stay available beyond that if we warn them ahead of time that we WILL have an opening after a certain amount of time. Something like : x player needs to log at 9 please be on and ready to go then.
6. The player must be sat out by the officers. They can volunteer, but they get no points if they just "leave because there are too many".
If a player leaves during the raid without prior warning, that player does not get any credit for bosses downed after they leave.
If a player leaves during a raid early but provides prior arrangement with another player for replacement or provides ample warning to the raid leader, the player may – once a month – continue to get points for the rest of the run.
Non Guildees, Friends of KOR, Alts, Initiates, and Trial Runners
As each player joins a raid for the first time, they will be added to the database and will start with zero points.
- Initiates perform on raids as members.
- Non-Guildees, Friends of KOR, Alts, and Trial Runners can utilize Need - however, if any main of a member or initiate bids need on the item, the main or initiate will get the item in preference to the Non-guildee, Friend of KOR, Alt, or Trial Runner, regardless of the individual point totals.
How much does an item cost?
The formula is based on the "item level" (ilevel). Every item in the game has an ilevel assigned by Blizzard, which is based on the formulas they use to come up with gear stats. Thus, ilevel should be based on the relative value of an item. There are numerous addons that show ilevel, so the ilevel of an item is readily availible in the game. It is also available readily through the armory at www.wowarmory.com.
Items taken at Need cost full points; items taken at Use cost half points.
Formula: ilevel * slot modifier
Here are the slot modifiers by slot:
| Slot | Cost |
|---|---|
| Head | 1.00 |
| Neck | 0.55 |
| Shoulders | 0.75 |
| Back | 0.55 |
| Chest | 1.00 |
| Ring | 0.55 |
| Wrists | 0.55 |
| Trinket | 0.70 |
| Hands | 0.75 |
| Wand/Thrown/Relic | 0.50 |
| Waist | 0.75 |
| Ranged Weapon | 1.50 |
| Legs | 1.00 |
| Offhand/Shield | 0.50 |
| Feet | 0.75 |
| 2-hand Weapon | 1.50 |
| 1-hand Weapon | 1.00 |
For reference, the ilevels for the tiers are as follows:
| Tier 4: | 120 |
| Tier 5: | 133 |
| Tier 6: | 146 |
| Tier 7: | 213 |
The relative values are roughly based on http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Item_Values. The nice thing about this cost system is that it is simple. Everyone can see an item in-game or on the web and know how much it will cost.
Crafting Plans
Crafting plans that create bind on equip (BoE) items are first offered to the Tradeskill Masters for that trade skill. If the leader is not present or already has the plans then they are distributed through random rolls by players that are present on the raid that have the required crafting level. BoE items do not have a DKP cost.
If no one needs a BoE crafting plan, that pattern will be put in the guild bank if it is not already in the bank. If the guild bank already has the plans, then the plans will be distributed through a greed roll.
Crafting plans that create bind on pickup (BoP) items are distributed through the DKP system with a cost based on the item that is created.
Mining and Skinning
All mining and skinning in instances is done by a deputized individual, usually a Guild Officers.
Instance-specific Looting Policies
While the general looting policies are described above, each instance can have its own specific rules regarding what how the different types of items drop in the instance are dealt with and which items are collected by the guild bank.
Nether Vortexes
Nether Vortexes are collected by the loot master until a pair is collected. The pair is then distributed via the DKP system at a cost of 64 dkp per pair.
Epic Gems
Epic gems are collected by the loot master and are distributed at the end of the raid. Cost is 10 dkp per gem.
Hearts of Darkness
Hearts of Darkness are collected by the loot master and are stored in the guild bank.
